My family is bananas B-A-N-A-N-A-S.

top row from the left [born]:
Melinda [San Antonio], Dad (Marty)[AZ], Mom (Diana)[AZ]
Kerstin [Germany], Me [Baltimore], Paul (James Pollock) [Germany], Shaman [AZ]
Kiana [Flagstaff], Jared [Baltimore]

That is if we are what we eat.

Yesterday my parents came home with an entire box of “soon to go bad” bananas. Our whole house now smells like them as our 3 dehydrators are packed to the brim with banana slices. These are my FAVOURITE (I like them so much that I used the UK spelling). They truly taste like candy. But they’re not. They’re just dehydrated banana slices. They don’t taste anything like the gross store-bought crunchy ones. They are chewy and delicious. I guess you could say they taste like banana laffy taffy but better. Plus there are no added sugars or preservatives. Maybe I will mail you some if you ask nicely.

Okay, but we really are “bananas” sometimes too. Here is one small example:
If you say something that remotely sounds like a line from a song it will be sung…by someone, somewhere in my family. I think we get this from my dad.

When we are playing any type of card game and Kiana plays a diamond she must sing “diamonds are foreverrr.”
When we are playing hearts and B.I.L. Scott plays a card he knows we are all going to pound/demolish he always sings “bring ‘em out, bring ‘em out.”
Of course when we drove past Taco Cabana last weekend in San Antonio I began singing “at the taco, taco cabana (“Copa Copacabana”)."
ChanNa begins to explain yesterday about people only having relationships over the book. Scott says “oh like facebook lovers?” So of course Kiana has to develop this into a strange rendition of “Goodbye My Lover (I know I didn’t link the right song, but this is funnier).”
Yesterday, while playing balderdash someone said a phrase beginning with “some people” so I started singing (and was quickly joined by S.I.L. Cassie) Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You”.

Maybe this doesn’t make us that strange. I’m pretty sure a lot of people do this (e.g. Katelyn? I think I remember her telling me she does this a lot). All I do know is that I think it’s really fun and funny when it happens. Also, I love my family ("L-O, L-O, L-O, L-O-V-E").

I wasn't born yet in these next two. I liked them too much
not to include them. New Years Party. Dad, Granny (Dad's Mom),
Mom, Shaman, Paul, Kerstin, Kiana, Melinda

Kerstin, Melinda, Shaman (that's right...he's in the McGruff suit),
Kiana, Paul and baby Jared

Me and Kiana.
What can I say? I was taught how to act with attitude from a young age...
(This is from a photoshoot styled and shot by Kerstin)

Oh yeah. And we used to fish a lot.
Me, Pollock (we never use this), Kiana, Kerstin, and Jared.
(Or the shortened versions/
lazy versions of our names
we use more often: Lea (or lea lea), Paul, Ki, Kerst, and J)

Scruff McGruff? That dog saved my life! Also, may I pretty please have bananas? You don't even have to mail them, I'll come pick them up next time you are in AZ.
